Update (1530ET): Minutes after an NYT reporter tweeted this image of a Marine standing guard outside the Oval Office, the White House pool reporter apparently confirmed that Trump is, in fact, back in the West Wing, despite promises to quarantine in the residence.

Just minutes before, the White House told reporters that it considers President Trump’s case of COVID-19 to be “untraceable”, effectively confirming reports that the White House was already giving up on efforts to trace an outbreak that has sickened as many as 33 people.

White House Deputy Press Secretary Brian Morgenstern told reporters that getting to the bottom of the web of infections simply isn’t possible.

“I understand people are very curious about that. I’m curious too. But that’s not really what contact tracing does. And the fact is, it could be any number of sources,” Morgenstern told reporters Wednesday. “It’s sort of an unknowable question as to where it entered the environment.”

Journalists have tested positive, and “there could have been any number of guests who’ve been at the White House who maybe tested negative but then later tested positive,” Morgenstern said.” Trump himself was tested very regularly as well as the senior staff who interact with him on an everyday basis,” Morgenstern said.

When pressed, he couldn’t say when Trump tested negative last.

As far as Trump working in the Oval, he insisted that safety procedures have been put in place to allow Trump to work in a number of different rooms in the West Wing, as well as the Oval Office.

Earlier, CBS News reported that Trump and his team had filmed another one of the videos that Trump released via Twitter over the weekend inside the White House.

In the latest update on President Trump’s condition, Navy Commander Dr. Sean Conley revealed that Trump hasn’t had a fever in 4 days, and that he’s been symptom-free (aside from a few brief bouts of ‘roid rage-inspired tweeting) for 24 hours.

Trump’s vital signs, including oxygen saturation, are all normal, and Trump hasn’t needed any supplemental oxygen since his blood-oxygen level dropped below 94% on Friday.

Notably, the president’s labs have begun to detect the presence of antibody production, compared with his initial positive Thursday night, where antibodies weren’t detected.

The news comes as CBS News reports that Trump and his team have recorded another video of Trump – this time from inside the White House (Trump is supposed to be confined to the West Wing) – and are reportedly weighing whether to publish it.

Meanwhile, aides for the president have told reporters that Trump is still insisting on debating Joe Biden in person next week. There’s even been talk of agreement on using safety precautions like plexiglass.

With the presidential calendar still blank, Trump has been firing off tweets at a pretty steady clip all day, slowing only slightly as we head into the afternoon.

After Trump knocked stocks into the red with a single tweet Tuesday afternoon, the market has continued to rip higher, juiced by Trump’s calls for smaller tactical stimulus bills. Trump received his final dose of remdesivir Tuesday evening at the White House.
