Cincinnati Reds outfielder Tommy Pham was suspended for three games by Major League Baseball Saturday over a bizarre Will Smith style face slap attack against San Francisco outfielder Joc Pederson Friday during batting practice in Cincinnati. Pederson, who did not fight back, told reporters the attack over a fantasy football dispute from last year. Separately, Pham told reporters, “I slapped Joc. He said some shit I don’t condone. I had to address it.”

Pham telling reporters about the suspension, “Tommy Pham told reporters today that he has been suspended three games. During batting practice Friday, Pham slapped Joc Pederson regarding a disagreement over fantasy football rules. “I slapped Joc,” he told reporters. “He said some s—- I don’t condone. I had to address it.”

Pederson explained the fantasy football dispute with Pham was about the rules for player rosters.

Giants manager Gabe Kapler stirred up controversy earlier Friday by announcing he would start staying in the clubhouse during the national anthem in protest of the state of the U.S.

Actor Will Smith was seen on global television walking on stage and slapping comedian Chris Rock during a live broadcast of the Academy Awards in March. The incident appears to have set off a trend with comedian Dave Chappelle being attacked on stage earlier this at a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and now this incident.
