Last Updated on September 13, 2022

Ashli Babbitt’s mother, Micki Witthoeft, joined The Charlie Kirk Show on Tuesday in order to talk about the events surrounding her daughter’s murder. Babbitt, an Air Force veteran who was unarmed, was shot and killed by Capitol Police Lieutenant Michael Byrd. Despite the fact that Byrd did not issue any commands before firing on the unarmed Babbitt, Byrd was cleared of any wrongdoing after a hasty investigation that didn’t even seek an interview with him.

“Some Republican officials said repeatedly that Lieutenant Michael Byrd, who killed Ashli Babbitt, ‘acted correctly’” host Charlie Kirk began. “It’s a tragedy, it never should have happened. It was a political execution,” he continued.

Kirk questioned how the media could continually slander Trump supporters over January 6 when the only person who was murdered that day was the unarmed Ashli Babbitt. Micki Witthoeft then joined the program to discuss.

“On the 6th of January Ashli went to Washington D.C. to stand in solidarity with the other two million people who were there to redress their government,” Witthoeft told Kirk, recalling the day’s events.

“Whether you believe in those Americans’ right to protest or not, or rather what they’re protesting, you have to believe in their right to protest,” she continued.

Witthoeft also provided details on the moments before her daughter was ruthlessly gunned down by Byrd. “There were no verbal commands for her to stand down. My daughter was a four-time, overseas-deployed with Air Force security forces and was well versed in use of force procedures,” she told Kirk.
