Pop Star Katy Perry Votes Against Leftist Candidate in L.A. Mayoral Race

Last Updated on November 8, 2022

In an Instagram post published on Monday, global music icon Katy Perry revealed that she voted for the former Republican and now registered Independent, Rick Caruso, for Mayor of Los Angeles. Perry opted to vote for Caruso instead of his Democrat opponent, Karen Ruth Bass, who has represented California’s 37th Congressional District since 2013.

“I am voting [Republican] for a myriad of reasons (see the news) but in particular because Los Angeles is a hot mess [at the moment],” the Grammy Award winner, Perry said.

Perry is the 4th biggest Twitter account in the world, behind Elon Musk, Justin Bieber, and Barack Obama.

Political analysts have contended they see a huge shift from Democrat to Republican in the populace, and Perry’s vote is an indication of that, particularly given the hyper-progressive, neoliberal nature of Hollywood and the music industry from where she comes.

“Elon Musk endorsed a Republican Congress and Katy Perry voted for Rick Caruso for LA mayor,” Scott Presler said. “There’s a tectonic shift happening. It’s exciting to see Republican policies enter the entertainment and technology industries.”

Rick Caruso is an alumnus of the University of Southern California (USC) and his J.D. from Pepperdine University. The mayoral hopeful is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Caruso, a real estate development company.

In addition, Caruso has served on the Los Angeles’ Department of Water and Power Commission and president of the Los Angeles Police Commission.

“Katy Perry voting for Republican Rick Caruso for La Mayor just shows you how bad things have gotten. That a celebrity would not only vote [Republican] – but then publicly post it is something else,” another reader commented. “You could say the energy is shifting.”

Many political pundits and “news junkies” have predicted a so-called “Red Wave” in the midterm elections as a response to the performance of The Biden Administration. However, the corporate press and its Democrat allies have warned of a coming “Red Mirage,” whereby the GOP holds an “artificial lead” early in the race.
