Colorado: Boebert Race is Going Down to the Wire

Last Updated on November 9, 2022

In the most recent update on the Colorado Secretary of State website, Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has closed the gap between her and Democrat nominee for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, Adam Frisch. Frisch’s lead has dwindled to just 73 votes with 97% reporting in one of the cycle’s tightest races.

As of p.m. eastern time on November 9, Frisch has garnered 155,579 votes, accounting for 50.01% of the total. Boebert, the incumbent, has had 155,506 votes cast in her name, accounting for 49.99% of the total.

According to Politico, 97% of the votes have been tallied.

Not expecting a close race, Boebert has been quietly awaiting the results on social media. Her last tweet was on Election Night on Tuesday.

“The red wave has begun!” Boebert said in a tweet. Boebert also congratulated Anna Pauline Luna, who won the U.S. House seat for Florida’s 13th Congressional District. “Congratulations to Congresswoman [Anna Paulina Luna]! America First is winning!” she added.

The race for Colorado’ 8th Congressional District between Barbara Kirkmeyer (R) and Yadira Caraveo (D) is also coming down to the wire. Caraveo has 3,470 votes and 48.98% of the total, while Kirkmeyer has garnered 90,676 votes and 47.17% of the total with nearly 95% reporting.

The Democratic Party has captured four House seats in the State of Colorado, while the Republicans currently have two, while two, the 3rd District and the 8th, remain undecided. Nonetheless, the GOP is expected to hold a majority in the House nationwide.

While Boebert was hopeful for a “red wave” that didn’t quite materialize as some polls had predicted, she found herself locked in a tight race with a fundraising disadvantage. Frisch finished the race with the most cash on hand in the House District 03 race, raising some $5,220,044 for his campaign in total.
