Wisconsin Supreme Court Loser Kelly Distanced Himself From Trump on Campaign Trail

Last Updated on April 5, 2023

Daniel Kelly lost to George Soros-backed Janet Protasiewicz by 14 points in Tuesday’s Wisconsin Supreme Court Race. During his campaign, Kelly distanced himself from Trump. Wisconsin U.S. Senator Ron Johnson won reelection in 2022, running on a pro-Maga platform in the state.

On March 29th, failed Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate Daniel Kelly told NBC News, “We’re not looking for one” in response to being asked about a Trump endorsement.

In the same interview, NBC asked Kelly if he would welcome a Trump endorsement. Kelly answered that question with, “We’d have to take a look at it and see what message that would be sending.”

U.S. Senator Ron Johnson has been a staunch Trump ally in the United States Senate. Ron Johnson ran an extremely pro-MAGA 2022 reelection campaign in Wisconsin and won.

Compared to Ron Johnson, Daniel Kelly lost most Wisconsin swing counties and underperformed in Republican strongholds.

Kenosha County, Wisconsin, experienced some of the worst BLM/Antifa riots in America during 2020. Ron Johnson won Kenosha County, Wisconsin, by 5 points in 2022. Daniel Kelly lost Kenosha County, Wisconsin, by 8 points.

Ron Johnson won the swing county of Grant County, Wisconsin by 13 points. Daniel Kelly lost Grant County, Wisconsin, by 3 points.

Oconto County, Wisconsin, is one of the Republican strongholds in the state. In 2022, Ron Johnson won Oconto County by 71-28%. In 2023, Daniel Kelly won Oconto County by 64-35%.

Democrats used abortion rights as one of their top issues in the 2022 Wisconsin United States Senate election. Democrats also used abortion rights as one of their top issues in the 2023 Wisconsin Supreme Court race.

Daniel Kelly’s failure to embrace Trump and the Maga movement is the glaring difference between the Wisconsin election results in 2022 and 2023.
