Alvin Bragg Arrested the Presidential Front Runner, Accuses the GOP Congress of Abuse of Power.

The Republican-controlled House Judiciary Committee announced Thursday afternoon that they had subpoenaed Mark Pomerantz. “Pomerantz led the investigation into President Trump’s finances before resigning in protest after Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s initial reluctance to move forward with charges against Trump,” wrote the House Gop’s Twitter Account. Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg responded to this news in a statement in which he accused the GOP Judaciry of abusing its power.

In the same statement, the House Judiciary Committee also announced on Thursday, “Furthermore, the Manhattan DA’s Office has acknowledged that it used federal forfeiture funds in its investigations of President Trump, including during Pomerantz’s tenure. The Committee is conducting oversight of Bragg’s unprecedented prosecutorial conduct to inform the consideration of potential legislative reforms that would, among other things, prevent state or local politically motivated prosecutions of current or former presidents.”

Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg responded to Thursday’s news from the House Judiciary Committee by releasing a statement that read, “The House GOP continues to attempt to undermine an active investigation and ongoing New York criminal case with an unprecedented campaign of harassment and intimidation. Repeated efforts to weaken state and local law enforcement actions are an abuse of power and will not deter us from our duty to uphold the law. These elected officials would better serve their constituents and the country, and fulfill their oath of office, by doing their jobs in Congress and not intruding on the sovereignty of the state of New York by interfering in an ongoing criminal matter in state court.”

Recent polls have Trump ahead of Biden in the 2024 race for president. Based on current polls, Bragg arrested the leading presidential candidate. NationalFile also reported that Bragg hid exculpatory evidence from the grand jury. These facts have led many to mock Bragg for his latest statement.

Trump is next expected to appear in court in December. However, things could very well change by then.
