Elon Musk Offers Wikipedia One Billion Dollars to Change its Name for One Year

Billion tech mogul Elon Musk has offered Wikipedia one billion dollars to change its name to “Dickipedia.”

Musk recently made massive waves after purchasing Twitter and changing the social media platform’s name to X.

When it comes to Wikipedia, Musk has previously accused it of having a “non-trivial left-wing bias.”

“Have you ever wondered why the Wikimedia Foundation wants so much money? It certainly isn’t needed to operate Wikipedia,” Musk wrote on X. “You can literally fit a copy of the entire text on your phone! So, what’s the money for? Inquiring minds want to know …”

A user added a Community Note to Musk’s post, writing that Wikipedia handles “over 25B page views per month and over 44M page edits a month, requiring substantial operating costs.”

In another post, Musk posted a screenshot from Wikipedia, which says it is a personal appeal from founder Jimmy Wales, asking for donations to keep the platform running.

“I will give them a billion dollars if they change their name to Dickipedia,” Musk wrote.

“Please add that to the [cow and poop emojis] on my wiki page,” he wrote in another post. “In the interests of accuracy.”

Liberal commentator Ed Krassenstein urged Wales to consider, saying he could change it afterward.

Musk replied that it must keep the name for one year, minimum.
