As protests rock major U.S. cities, many have engaged in riotous behavior including looting. In St. Louis, Missouri, as George Floyd protesters blocked a highway, an attendee saw it fit to attempt to loot a FedEx Big Rig while it was in motion.
An African American male succumbed to his wounds in hospital as he was dragged five blocks by the FedEx semi-truck when he was caught underneath the tires, after he and a group of other rioters attempted to stop and loot the moving vehicle, according to Transportation Nation.
Images of the botched looting were caught in a now-removed Facebook Live video at around 3am, last night, near Broadway street.
On the deleted footage, bystanders could be heard saying: “Somebody stop that [expletive]!” and “He (trucker) got somebody under that [expletive]!”
Footage of the event show people attempt to scale the vehicle while the drive sounded his air horn to deter the would-be looters.
According to police, demonstrators were also seen waving guns at the driver in an effort to rob the truck, reported KMOV4.
Other looters were witnessed scurrying off with stolen packages.
A FedEx spokesperson released the following statement on the incident:
Our hearts go out to all those who are grieving the events of this week. We are deeply saddened to learn of a tragic situation involving a demonstrator in St. Louis and one of our vehicles. We offer our sincerest condolences to the family of the individual involved. There is no higher priority for FedEx than safety, and we are cooperating fully with the investigating authorities at this time.
Last night, a cop was shot dead in California in an effort to quell the violence that has taken America by storm this weekend. Some believe the rioting to persist over the weekend.
