As the stock market continues to receive massive cash injections via the Federal Reserve and executive fiat to balance the GDP, congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) has proposed an emergency direct aid package aimed to help working Americans survive the economic crisis.
“We’re still here in Washington where negotiations are continuing around a direct aid package for everyday Americans across the country,” Gabbard told viewers in a video posted to Twitter.
“The concerns and the impact around this global coronavirus pandemic are growing,” Gabbard continued. “Too much of attention has been focused here in Washington on bailing out Wall Street banks and corporate industries as people are making the same old tired argument of how trickle-down economics will eventually help the American people.”
The congresswoman pointed out that as the government focuses on stabilizing the financial markets, it’s the American taxpayer “that gets left holding the bag, struggling and getting no help during a time of crisis.”
“This is wrong,” Gabbard stated, adding, “Now is the time for action to provide direct assistance and emergency relief to every single American through a universal basic payment of $1,000 a month to every American for the duration of this crisis.”

“Yesterday, I introduced a resolution pushing for this emergency aid in the House of Representatives that would directly help those individuals and families who are working hard, who are struggling to make ends meet, who are fearful of losing their jobs, or wondering, given all the uncertainty, maybe how they’re gonna pay the rent or buy food and medicine or prepare for what could end up being a two week long quarantine situation if you get sick.”
Gabbard went on to describe the emergency supplemental income as the “simplest, most direct way to help every American weather this storm while also helping to fuel our economy.”
