SHOTS FIRED at Austin, Texas Black Lives Matter Protest

What was a ‘peaceful protest’ meandering through the streets of Austin, Texas on Saturday night, 7/25/2020 was interrupted around 9:50 P.M. by what has been described as a drive by, investigation underway.

Two burst of shots fired can be heard at the 2:35:50 mark in the full video, first a 5 shot burst and then 3 shots a few seconds later.

At the 2:38:20 mark in the video, a witness is heard asking the person recording “Please tell me you got that car”.

The witness continued “they shot Garrett”, “a car drove up, we were taking the streets, he shot Garrett.” “Garrett is the husband of Whitney, a quadraplegic, in a wheelchair and he is her caretaker and has been for like 10 years.”, “I think he pointed a gun at (unintelligible)”

UPDATE – 11:00 P.M. CT: From another live stream on facebook, user atxyoungpro.LULAC. Streamer was heard saying that someone yelled out ‘blue lives matter’, car was followed, no more was mentioned on the live stream as of yet.

UPDATE – 12:15 P.M. CT: Police are giving an update after a shooting at a protest in Downtown #Austin left one person dead

On Saturday, July 25th, at approximately 9:52 P.M., Austin Police officers were on scene in the 300 block of Congress Avenue, monitoring protesters when shots were fired. One adult male victim was located with a gunshot wound, that victim was transported to Dell-Seton, but was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter. Initial reports indicate the victim may have been carrying a rifle, and approached suspect vehicle. Suspect was in the vehicle and shot at the victim. Suspect was detained and is cooperating with officers. Detectives and crime scene are on scene, there is no longer a threat to the public and no one else has been reported injured. Thank you guys.

UPDATE 2:30 A.M. CT, 7/26/2020: Heard on subsequent facebook live stream that the second burst of gunfire of three shots was return fire from someone purported to be a medic with the march.
