Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy called for U.S. House Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) to be be removed from the House Intelligence Committee just hours after his ties to a Chinese honeytrap spy were revealed on Wednesday.

While Swalwell has desperately denied having sexual relations with Chinese spy Christine Fang, her past history of sleeping with U.S. politicians to acquire sensitive intelligence has led many to view Swalwell’s denials as dubious at best.

News of the latest push for Swalwell’s exit from the intel committee broke Wednesday afternoon on social media.

On Tuesday, McCarthy said “Swalwell has long been disqualified from serving on the Intel Committee. For years he peddled Russian disinformation for political gain.”

“Now we find out he was involved in an effort by a reported spy to gather info for China.” McCarthy concluded, “Swalwell is a national security liability.”

Fox News host Tucker Carlson covered Swalwell’s participation in the Chinese honey pot on his nightly program.
