During a recent television appearance on MSNBC, White House Senior Covid Response Advisor Andy Slavitt admitted the fact that California and other blue states under lockdown cannot record better infection numbers than comparatively free Florida is “just a little beyond our explanation.”
“I wanna start with what we just saw: contrast states like Florida and California, California basically in lockdown and their numbers aren’t that different from Florida,” the host told Slavitt.
“Well good morning Stephanie, uh, look, there’s so much of this, heh, virus, that we think we understand, that we think we can predict, it’s just beyond, a little beyond our explanation,” Slavitt responded.

Despite the admission that he has no idea why lockdowns are ineffective, the Biden administration Covid advisor went on to pontificate that wearing masks, social distancing, and mass vaccinating will make sure the virus “goes away.”
“But uh, you know, this is, as we all have learned by this time this is a virus that continues to surprise us, um, it’s very hard to predict, and you know, all around the country we’ve gotta continue to do a better job,” Slavitt said.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, whose bold freedom-based approach to governance during the Covid scare has drawn widespread acclaim, recently lambasted the Biden administration for supporting lockdowns and travel restrictions that would affect Floridians:
DeSantis posted an excerpt from a news conference in Port Charlotte to Twitter on Thursday with the caption, “The recent report that the Biden administration is considering restricting the travel of Floridians is completely absurd, especially when Biden allows illegal aliens to pour across our southern border. We won’t allow Floridians to be unfairly targeted for political purposes.”
“I think it’s an absurd report that they would be doing that. I think it would be unconstitutional, it would be unwise and it would be unjust,” DeSantis stated during the press conference, adding, “And if you think about it, restricting the right of Americans to travel freely throughout our country while allowing illegal aliens to pour across the southern border unmolested would be a ridiculous, but very damaging farce.”
“So we would oppose that one hundred percent, it would not be based in science, it would purely be a political attack against the people of Florida,” the governor said.
California Governor Gavin Newsom is currently facing a recall effort from enraged constituents related to his botched handling of statewide lockdowns.
