Kansas Man Arrested After Police Say He Attacked Girlfriend, Family Dog With ‘Five To Six Foot Sword’

The Wichita Police Department in Kansas recently revealed a suspect for a stabbing, in which the suspect’s girlfriend and family dog were both attacked by “a five to six foot sword.”

“The Wichita Police Department (WPD) needs your help in locating 41-year-old James E. Brown of Wichita,” wrote the police department on its Facebook page. “He is wanted on charges stemming from an aggravated battery – domestic violence and animal cruelty investigation and a second aggravated battery – domestic violence strangulation investigation. Brown also has an outstanding warrant.”

Police describe the incident as happening at 2 a.m. on March 2, when they made contact with “a 41-year-old female who had a serve [sic] laceration to her hand and back.” The statement notes that the woman needed to be hospitalized “for treatment of severe injuries” and remains in the hospital as of March 2.

“The investigation revealed the victim and her boyfriend, Brown, were at the home and got into a verbal disturbance,” the statement explains. “Brown grabbed a five to six-foot sword during the disturbance, struck her multiple times, and stabbed her dog multiple times. Investigators also learned the victim had been strangled.”

Police reportedly confirmed the dog survived the initial attack, and licked the hand of a police officer who arrived at the scene. It is unknown whether the dog ultimately survived its injuries.

The WPD added that “Brown should be considered armed and dangerous.” In an update to the post, they reveal that the suspect had been taken into custody.

In Wichita, a Black Lives Matter-affiliated group protested police for weeks following the death of suspected fraudster and fentanyl user George Floyd, eventually culminating in the City Council voting on whether to defund the police. The group’s leader, Gabrielle Griffie, borrows her beliefs from the communist Russian dictator Vladimir Lenin, who she believes would have defunded the police. Griffie also once wrote on Twitter, “Cuba please take me.”

Ultimately, pro-police demonstrations in the city, which included a group of hundreds drowning out the voices of protesters by singing the Star Spangled Banner, achieved its goal. The Wichita police received a $6 million funding increase while other American cities stripped their police departments of funding.
