BREAKING: Gab’s Torba Says New Payment Processor ‘Gab Pay’ Will Launch Next Week

Andrew Torba, the CEO of free speech social social platform Gab, has announced the unveiling of a new payment processor called Gab Pay that will launch in-house next week.

In a community update video that covers the current goals of Gab in the month of April, Torba described Gab Pay as “something that has been in the works for quite some time,” and stated, “you will be be able to create an account on Gab Pay, connect your bank account, and then you’re going to be able to tip and exchange money with other Gabbers.”

Torba continued, “Gab Pay is going to become the e-commerce merchant processing backbone of this new digital economy that we’re working on building here to power the silent secession away from the woke globohomo economy that is cancelling people and is anti-white and is anti-American and is anti-Christian.”

“We’re going to have the first integration of [Gab Pay] up hopefully in the next week or two,” Torba said. “The first integration of that is going to be baked into our Gab Pro and our shop checkout flow, so, when you’re checking out you’ll be able to pay using Gab Pay.”

Torba indicated that the full launch of Gab Pay is slated for the later in the year, and will include the ability to receive tips on a GabTV or Gab Social account.

Torba had previously indicated that Gab was working on building a new payment processor, as well as upgrading the existing website infrastructure, in a March press release:

Gab CEO Andrew Torba announced on Tuesday the free speech social network would be rebuilt from the ground up, and include new features such as video calls, a marketplace, and a P2P payment system.

In a press release, Torba, who founded Gab in 2016, announced the company’s plan for “Gab Next,” a huge upgrade for the free speech social network. Gab Social, the main platform, will be moved over to the HYDRA infrastructure that currently powers all the other Gab products including Gab Trends, Gab TV, and the Gab Shop.

HYDRA, Gab’s in-house infrastructure system, is “secure, scalable, and has unmatched performance for a community as big as Gab,” Torba said, with Gab Social to be completely “rebuilt” and ported over to the new system within the next 90 days.

With the infrastructure change will come big upgrades for Gab. Torba announced some “exciting new features and tools” that will be possible on the new system, including: a Marketplace for Gab users to buy goods and services with each other; a P2P payment system; and a video calling system. Existing services like Gab Chat and Gab Trends will be able to be further integrated.
