During an interview with National File’s editor-in-chief Tom Pappert, “The Right Take” podcast co-host Jacob Grandstaff stated that conservative publication The Daily Caller has trained journalists who have since left for left-wing publications and “gone native.” Grandstaff claims he was told by Daily Caller co-founder Neil Patel that “our donors like that.”
As the topic of conversation moved to the Daily Caller, Grandstaff noted, “Well I actually interviewed there [at the Daily Caller] with Neil Patel, who is their co-founder there, and Patel . . . actually told me that one of the things they try to do with their two-year journalism school or internship is they try to get the people who come in and intern with them placed at liberal institutions, so they’ll try to place them at the Huffington Post, the New York Times, and the reason for that, he said, was quote, ‘Our donors like that.’”
“And what he admitted that ends up happening to most of these people, they go native, whenever they go these liberal outlets, they end up becoming liberal journalists,” Grandstaff continued. “And [current CNN employee] Kaitlan Collins is a perfect example of that, the Daily [Caller] ended up training one of the left’s best. And she was trained with conservative donors’ money. Uh, he said, ‘Because you know, our donors like that.’”
