Biden regime Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas claimed that illegally crossing the U.S. Southern border is “one of our proudest traditions.” It is not immediately clear who Mayorkas, who is of both Cuban and Jewish descent, was referring to when he said “our,” though most critics concur that he was invoking a false trope about a purported historic celebration of illegal immigration to the U.S.
Fox Sunday host Chris Wallace probed Mayorkas about the horde of unvaccinated migrants being ferried into the United States on Sunday, asking, “Why did you allow them into the country in the first place? Why didn’t you build – forgive me – a wall or a fence, to stop them from walking cross the dam? It looks like a highway that allows them to cross the Rio Grande.”
“It is this policy – it the policy of this administration, uh, we do not agree with the building of the wall,” Mayorkas said. “The law provides that individuals can make a claim for humanitarian relief, that is actually one of our proudest traditions.”

During a recent interview in July, Mayorkas allowed a VICE employee to push the false claim that Gab is a “dark web platform”:
A Vice News reporter made the laughable claim that free speech website Gab is a “dark web site” during an interview with Biden regime Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas this week.
Vice’s Liz Landers made reference to “some of these dark web, um, platforms we’re seeing kind of pop up like Gab” during the interview with Mayorkas during a broader video about Vice’s gripe with Americans who hold non-leftist, non-corporate political beliefs.
“The dark web is an extraordinary challenge,” Mayorkas said. “Drawing the line between speech and the connectivity between speech and violence is not always easy, but that’s our responsibility and we do it, always guided by our constitutional principles. Our focus on the dark web is in the criminal arena.”
