Video: Warrantless ATF Agents Show Up at Delaware Man’s Home, Demand to See His Guns

Warrantless ATF agents showed up on the front porch of a Delaware man’s home, demanding to see his firearms. The agents claimed they were investigating “straw purchases” and that the man had been flagged in their system after making a “large firearm purchase” of a whopping two guns.

The Delaware man, who has not shared his name, posted a video of the interaction with ATF agents and a member of the Delaware State Police online. The footage was captured from his family home’s Ring doorbell and shows one ATF agent and a Delaware state cop standing on his front porch, while another ATF agent takes up a position in the yard.

In the video of the warrantless ATF inspection posted online, the agent at the door tells the man that he’s “verifying” that he still has the firearms he recently purchased, seeming to state to because the man purchased two firearms at once, the government believes he’s done something wrong, though obviously not illegal.

“All I’m doing is verifying that you have it, you got two different purchases. If you have them, I’m out of here. That’s how quick it is,” the ATF agent tells the man, who sounds noticeably disturbed by the ordeal.

“Do you have them with you by any chance?” the ATF agent asks the man, who explains that they’re sitting in his home gun safe.

“If you can unload them and bring them out, we can go out to your foyer here, check them out, write the serial numbers and we’re out of here,” the ATF agent goes on to say, inviting himself into the home without a warrant and appearing to casually confess to helping run a federal gun registration and tracking scheme.

“It will take five seconds,” the other ATF agent interjected from the front yard, before the Delaware cop butt in to explain that “the reason we’re out here is obviously gun violence is at an uptick. We want to make sure – we’ve been having a lot of issues with straw purchases,” implying the man had done something criminal because he’d made a “large gun purchase” of two firearms.

“The idea is that when you purchase more than two guns at a time it generates a multiple sales report and it comes to us and we have to check them out,” the ATF agent on the front porch explained. “That’s all that is. You did nothing wrong, absolutely zero,” he admitted, while still demanding the see the firearms.

Ultimately, the man obliged the ATF and Delaware state cop, going back into his home to retrieve his firearms from his gun safe. When he did so, the cops were caught on the Ring doorbell admitting that they “don’t blame him” for his skepticism of their warrantless door knock.

According to a report from Armed American News, which interviewed the unnamed Delaware homeowner, after he retrieved one of his firearms and the agents matched the serial number to one on their paperwork, the warrantless gun cops were satisfied, not requesting to see anymore. They “wished the homeowner a good night and left,” the report states.
