A Missouri Sherrif is vowing to “go down with the ship” and not comply with the Biden Administration’s 2nd Amendment crackdown as federal agents prepare to “audit” gun owners in 24 Missouri counties.
In conjunction with a wide array of anti-2nd Amendment crackdowns, the administration of Joe Biden has announced that it will begin auditing gun owners, specifically those who hold concealed carry permits, in two dozen Missouri counties, most of which vote Republican by large margins. In the face of the planned federal audit, Scotland County, Missouri Sheriff Bryan Whitney has assured his citizens that he won’t comply when government agents come to his neck of the woods, even if it means being arrested on federal charges.
“As the sheriff of Scotland County, I want all my citizens to know that I will not allow, cooperate or release any CCW information to the FBI, even at the threat of a federal arrest,” Sheriff Bryan Whitney, an elected Republican, wrote in a public July 18 letter to those in his jurisdiction. “Point blank,” he went on to write. “I will go down with the ship.”
Furhtermore, Whitney has told a local news outlet that his office will not only refuse to turn the information on gun owners over to federal investigators and auditors, but that he will also be securing the concealed carry records at an undisclosed location and that even if a federal search warrant is issued, the records will not be found.
Joining Sheriff Whitney in his opposition to federal gun auditors is Missouri’s Republican Attorney General Eric Schmitt, who blasted FBI director Chris Wray in a letter of his own his own that he sent to the feds, telling them to “cease and desist” their actions against Missouri gun owners.
“I will use the full power of my Office to stop the FBI, which has become relentlessly politicized and has virtually no credibility, from illegally prying around in the personal information of Missouri gun owners,” the letter, which was reviewed by Fox News, reportedly read.
News of Missouri’s 2nd Amendment showdown with the federal government comes on the heels of a viral video showing warrantless ATF agents at the door of a Delaware man’s family home, demanding to see his recently purchased firearms so that they could ensure that he wasn’t part of a “straw purchase” scheme.

Like Sheriff Bryan Whitney, constitionally elected law enforcement heads around the country are vowing to stop state and federal encorachments on the 2nd Amendment rights of their county citizens, with local Sheriffs making up what has been referred to as “the last line of defense” against anti-constitional tyranny. As reported at the time by National File, Culpeper County, Virginia Sheriff Scott Jenkins made national headlines in 2020, when he vowed to deputize thousands of citizens to protect their 2nd Amendment rights in the event that state Democrats, who at the time dominated all branches of Virginia’s government, enacted a slew of gun control and confiscation measures.
