Trump-endorsed America First candidate Mark Finchem is surging in Arizona’s Secretary of State race against Democrat Adrian Fontes, a former Maricopa County elections official who used to make a living as a lawyer defending narco-terrorists with American blood on their hands.
Recent polling data shows Arizona State Rep. and election integrity champion Mark Finchem with a sizable lead over Democrat Adrian Fontes in their race to be the state’s next elections chief and number two executive. Just under two months out from election day, a Trafalgar Group poll of likely voters shows Finchem leading Fontes by a more than 6-point margin.
Of the poll’s respondents, 47.5% of them say that if the election were held today, they’d vote for Mark Finchem, while 41.1% of them say they’d support Adrian Fontes.
“BREAKING: Retired Police Officer Mark Finchem is creaming disgraced former failed Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes,” Finchem wrote in a Tweet with the poll results attached. “#JustFollowTheLaw,” he added, taking a stab at Fontes’ long history of election tampering misconduct that got him tossed out of office by the people of Maricopa County.
In 2018, Fontes got out ahead of the Democrats’ 2020 cheat-by-mail efforts by sending unsolicited mail-in ballots to hundreds of thousands of Maricopa County voters. Voting irregularities and problems at the polls plagued the entire election, which was so corrupt that even Democrat Secretary of State Katie Hobbs sided against Fontes.

Before running Maricopa’s elections into the ground and taking a hardline stance against election integrity, Adrian Fontes was a lawyer who made a living defending narco-terrorists and gun runners. Among his clientele was Manuel Celis-Acosta, who was arrested as part of the fast and furious gun trafficking operation that killed Border Patrol agent Brian Terry. Celis-Acosta was a cartel gun trafficker tied to the feds who transferred around 2,000 weapons, including stinger missiles, to the Sinaloa cartel.
He was represented by Adrian Fontes in 2011, and Fontes helped the documented gun trafficker with American blood on his hands get let off by the feds, who were working to cover-up their own criminality in the fast and furious operation.
Speaking with Fox News, Fontes said Celis-Acosta and his gun-trading cartel associates were “just a bunch of kids” and not a “nefarious organization.”
That same year, Fontes represented convicted narco-terrorist Emilia Palomina-Robles. She was part of a group charged with attempting to buy Stinger missiles and more military-grade weapons to supply to a Mexican drug cartel. Convicted, Palominia-Robles was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Of course, on his campaign website, Fontes makes no mention of his cartel narco-terrorist defense, instead characterizing his legal career as a time spent “advocating for justice and fighting for those who are disadvantaged.”
