McCarthy-backed RINO candidate Jen Kiggans frantically fled a recent interview with local media in Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District. Kiggans was in such a hurry to get away, that she left her microphone still attached as she dodged a question about her State Senate vote to continue predatory payday loan practices that rip off working-class and military families the most. Kiggans’ latest runaway comes on the heels of another interview, where she stormed off rather than address the contested 2020 Election.
McCarthy-backed 2nd District GOP nominee Jen Kiggans refused to explain her vote in the Virginia State Senate for S.B. 421 when questioned by the district’s local WAVY news station. The legislation, supported by a large swath of Republicans and Democrats alike, sought to protect families, especially working-class and military families, from predatory payday loan lenders.
Under S.B. 421, the massive interest assigned to payday loans by their lenders would be capped in Virginia at a rate of 36%. Kiggans’ vote against that measure has become a major campaign issue in the military-heavy 2nd District, where both Kiggans and Democrat incumbent Elaine Luria have made their own military service central to their campaign pitches.
The district is centered around Virginia Beach and includes much of the area’s massive military infrastructure.
Before she voted against the legislation to chomp down on predatory loan practices, Jen Kiggans accepted a $20,000 donation from GOPAC, an election fund that is propped up by big-time payday loan lenders, including Advance America and Check into Cash, two of the more notorious payday lenders.
“That’s hurtful to me,” Kiggans told WAVY of accusations that her vote hurt military families.
“Why did you vote against it?” a WAVY reporter asked Jen Kiggans a whopping 11 times before she stormed out of the interview.
“I wouldn’t do anything to harm our veteran population,” Kiggans told the WAVY reporter. “Thank you though,” she said as she got up and stormed out of the interview room, with her microphone still attached.
“Hold on, hold on,” the interviewer said as wires followed Kiggans out of the room.

The razor-close 2nd District Congressional race has been one of the most well-funded in the entire country, with more than $11 million, largely from outside special interests and political establishment funds, fueling the two campaigns.
Democrat incumbent Elaine Luria, a 1/6 Committee Member, has taken millions in Democrat campaign money, and the DCCC has stepped up in an effort to save the endangered Pelosi Democrat from her district’s Republican-leaning voters.
Early on in the campaign season, Luria made national headlines after her financial ties to Chinese Communist Party espionage operations were revealed.
For her part, Republican nominee Jen Kiggans has been heavily backed and funded by Kevin McCarthy, enjoying cash infusions from his Congressional Leadership Fund since the primary season.
Throughout the campaign, Kiggans has refused to answer questions about her voting record from the media, including when pressed by National File.

In a previous interview with another local news channel, this time it was 13 News Now, Kiggans stormed off rather than answer questions about the 2020 Presidential Election.
Throughout the midterm season, she’s been unwilling to make her views on the 2020 race known and has refused to back President Trump in 2024.
She’s enthusiastically offered her support to Kevin McCarthy‘s Speaker of the House ambitions multiple times though.
