GOP Rep. Mike Johnson (LA-4) has been elected as the 56th Speaker of the United States House of Representatives after Republican legislators nominated him in a closed-door meeting on Tuesday night and came to the House floor for a vote on Wednesday afternoon.
Louisiana Rep. Mike Johnson received 220 votes to become Speaker of the House and was escorted to the speaker’s chair by a laundry list of GOP legislators, including Reps. Kevin McCarthy and Tom Emmer, as well as Democrat Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, who received 209 votes from Democrats when Johnson was elected speaker.
After standing by Kevin McCarthy during the Matt Gaetz-led Motion to Vacate vote that ended McCarthy’s short-lived speakership, Johnson emerged as an unlikely nominee for speaker and became an instant national figure after the GOP nominated him on Tuesday night.
Concerns have been raised in regards to Johnson’s links to the uni-party war machine and big pharma, both of which have heavily funded his political career.
As National FIle reported, Johnson’s largest single donor in the current congressional cycle is Morris & Dickson, a Louisiana-based pharmaceutical corporation that partnered with the state as its exclusive COVID jab distributor.

He’s also received money from military-industrial complex heavyweights like L3Harris, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and others.

After globalist-backed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed a Joint Session of Congress, Johnson described the speech as “moving” and rattled his saber as he vowed that “America stands with Ukraine” in the face of its war with nuclear-armed Russia.
