105 Republicans Vote to Expel Santos, Chipping Away at Their Own Majority

Last Updated on December 2, 2023

105 GOP members of Congress voted to expel now-former New York GOP Rep. George Santos from the US House of Representatives on Friday, chipping away at their own razor-thin legislative majority, apparently because Joe Biden’s Democrats told them to.

On Friday, George Santos became just the sixth House of Representatives member in American history to be expelled from the national legislature, and only the third since the Civil War. Additionally, Santos is the first member of Congress to be expelled since anti-globalist Ohio Democrat Rep. James Traficant met the same fate in 2002 though, unlike Santos, Traficant had actually been convicted of a crime.

The vote to expel Santos comes after a lengthy campaign by Democrats and, eventually, the GOP establishment, to give the boot to the openly gay Hispanic man who won as a Republican in a New York seat that’s one of the most competitive in the nation.

Though Santos has admitted to lying and has been indicted for financial crimes, he has been convicted of nothing in a court of law and says that the criminal cases against him have been politically motivated considering he won a seat that Democrats had desperately hoped for.

His expulsion fits in with a wider pattern of totalitarian behavior from uni-party elites and their sycophants, who have embraced a Stalinist “show me the man, I’ll show you the crime” mentality when it comes to taking down their political opponents.

Notably, while Speaker of the House Mike Johnson voted to keep Santos in DC, Kevin McCarthy did not participate in the expulsion vote.

However, several of his political lackeys did, including Rep. Jen Kiggans of Virginia and CCP-linked Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska, both of whom, along with several other close McCarthy allies, voted with Democrats to expel Santos.

The expulsion of Santos from Congress, with the help of 105 Republicans, comes even as the House GOP has failed to impeach Biden Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who is presiding over the largest border standdown in American history.

Just over two weeks ago, 8 House Republicans voted with Democrats to kill a Mayorkas impeachment resolution filed by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. On Friday, half of those 8 once again voted with Democrats, but this time to expel George Santos, a member of their own party.

In the immediate aftermath of the Santos expulsion vote, the now-former member of Congress is saying that he will be filing ethics complaints against several of his former GOP colleagues and is calling on someone to exhibit the “testicular fortitude” required to reintroduce a Santos motion to expel Democrat Rep. Jamaal Bowman, who was caught on camera pulling a Capitol fire alarm in an apparent effort to delay a vote.
