LAND GRAB: Israeli ‘Settlers’ Plot Colonization of Gaza Strip

Last Updated on April 18, 2024

Members of the Israeli “settler movement,” including members of the Netanyahu government, are plotting the colonization of Palestinian land in Gaza that has been cleared of its owners and occupants through Israel’s ongoing military campaign there.

This week, as calls for Israeli expansion into Gaza continue to grow among zionist hardliners, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that his government will spend 19 billion shekels, the equivalent of around 5 billion dollars, to “strengthen” and “rebuild” Jewish settlements near the Gaza border. The announcement is seen by many, both in and out of the settlement movement, as an important step in the eventual expansion of the settlements into war-torn Gaza.

Israeli expansion into Gaza has been staunchly supported by hardline zionists within the Netanyahu government, including National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who in January addressed a settlers conference and called on Jews to “go back home” to Gaza.

“It’s time to return to the land of Israel. If we don’t want another 7 October, we need to return home and control the land,” Gvir told the conference.

“Returning” is a key component of zionist settler ideology – the concept that Jews are “returning” to land that they believe was given to them by God and has always been theirs.

And among prospective zionist “settlers,” the desire to move into Gaza likely has never been stronger, recent reports and interviews with leading members of the so-called settlement movement have revealed.

In an interview with the BBC, Daniella Weiss, the daughter of 1940s Jewish terrorists who is described as a “settlement movement extremist,” said that Jewish settlers are gunning for the Gaza coastline, and are already planning to build beach houses there.

“I have friends in Tel Aviv, so they say, ‘Don’t forget to keep for me a plot near the coast in Gaza,’ because it’s a beautiful, beautiful coast, beautiful golden sand,” Daniella Weiss told the BBC last month.

“Gaza Arabs will not stay in the Gaza Strip,” she went on to say. “Who will stay? Jews,” she added, suggesting that the millions of people calling Gaza home could be sent to Canada

“You can call it ethnic cleansing,” she boasted to the BBC.

And it’s not just Muslims who are facing the wrath of the radical zionist settler movement and its allies in Israel’s government.

As National File previously reported, Armenian Christians in Old City Jerusalem have had a militaristic campaign waged against them by heavily armed prospective settlers, who’ve been aided by attack dogs and police officers in their efforts to force the Christians off of the land they’ve called home since the time of the Byzantine Empire, to make way for Jewish business developments.

The attacks against the Armenian Christians have been so severe, that at times, they’ve included nerve agents.
