Left-wing Twitter journalists and internet activists, most of whom sport blue check mark verified badges on their profiles, were completely baffled by President Trump’s reference to “coyotes” bringing illegal immigrant children across the U.S.-Mexico border during Thursday night’s presidential debate.
Despite the fact that most people with a basic understanding of U.S. immigration policies are aware that coyotes a type of gang who smuggle immigrants across the border, liberal Twitter users were baffled by President Trump’s assertion that “children are brought here by coyotes and lots of bad people, cartels, and they’re brought here and they used to use them to get into our country.”
Democrat Georgia State House Rep Dar’shun Kendrick weighed in with a particularly hot take: “Did @realDonaldTrump just say 545 kids they can’t find their parents for came over through “cartels and coyotes”?! How the hell does a coyote bring a whole human across the border?! Lord—–stop talking. #FinalDebate.”

The Georgia state rep. attempted to cope with criticism for her statment in several follow-up tweets, but her pleas fell on deaf ears.

Kendrick was roundly mocked for her ignorance on the issue despite somehow having been elected to public office, but she was far from the only Democrat activist who didn’t understand what a coyote was Thursday night.

The response to President Trump’s coyote reference highlighted some serious issues about the political knowledge and grasp of basic issues possessed by the average Joe Biden voter.
