President Donald Trump announced on Twitter Wednesday that he has issued a full pardon for General Michael Flynn, who was charged with lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation during an interview where agents lied to Flynn about the nature of the investigation. Flynn’s subsequent legal persecution has been described as a political witch hunt perpetrated by officials loyal to the Barack Obama administration.
“It is my Great Honor to announce that General Michael T. Flynn has been granted a Full Pardon. Congratulations to @Gen Flynn and his wonderful family, I know you will now have a truly fantastic Thanksgiving!” Trump said in Wednesday’s tweet.

Earlier in 2020, the claims that Flynn was set up by the FBI were given credence by the Department of Justice, which dropped charges against Flynn.
The Justice Department has announced that it is dropping the case against Michael Flynn, President Trump’s ex-National Security advisor.
In court documents that were filed on Thursday and obtained by the Associated Press, the Justice Department said the criminal case against Flynn was being dropped “after a considered review of all the facts and circumstances of this case, including newly discovered and disclosed information.”
Prosecutors at the Justice Department and the FBI had maintained that Flynn had lied in an interview to the FBI about conversations he had had with the Russian ambassador. However, the Justice Department now says that the interview by the FBI was “untethered to, and unjustified by, the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation into Mr. Flynn” and that it was “conducted without any legitimate investigative basis.”
The news of Flynn’s pardon has, predictably, been met with cries of anguish and alarm by the anti-Trump corporate media.
