Anti-Gun Campaign Worker Shoots and Kills Fellow Canvasser in Philadelphia

A campaign worker for One PA, a left-wing organizing group that endorses anti-gun Democrats for office, shot and killed a fellow canvasser when the two got into an argument during the middle of a canvassing last week. According to police, BOTH of the campaign canvassers for anti-gun One PA were armed. Among other candidates, One PA is backing anti-gun leftist Helen Guy to be the next Mayor of Philadelphia. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Guy distanced herself from the organization and claimed to have no ties to the shooter or the victim.

46-year-old One PA campaign worker Eddie Brokenbough was shot and killed on the streets of Philadelphia last week after he met up with another One PA canvasser and the two got into an argument. According to local reports, Brokenbough who, like the shooter, was armed despite working for an anti-gun political organization, was shot once under the armpit and pronounced dead at a local hospital.

“A man was shot and killed while handing out political fliers in Philadelphia’s Ogontz neighborhood,” a televised report from a Philadelphia ABC News affiliate revealed. “The shooter, police say, is also a campaign worker.”

A tweet from the @OnePennsylvania Twitter account confirmed that the victim was a One PA campaign canvasser, but mentioned nothing about the shooter also being involved with the organization and nothing about both the victim and shooter having been armed.

“We are mourning this senseless loss, and continuing to gather the facts and investigate what happened,” read the tweet.

In another tweet that followed the murder, Democrat mayoral candidate Helen Gym tried to distance herself from the campaign workers, despite having One PA’s endorsement in the city’s upcoming elections and the group working the streets and knocking on doors to support her campaign.

Gym wrote that she was “devasted to hear about the tragic death of a canvasser,” and added that her “thoughts are with the family of the victim, the One PA community, and everyone impacted by this irrevocable loss.”

“Though the canvasser was not part of our campaign, this loss is deeply felt by all of us,” she claimed.

Gym has been blasted by liberals and conservatives alike for distancing herself from the situation and, as some have put it, “disowning” One PA after the loss of life for political expedience.

Despite their campaign workers walking around Philadelphia armed, One PA is outwardly anti-gun, as are the Democrat candidates that the group supports for office, like Helen Guy.

In a candidate questionnaire included on One PA’s website, support for gun control is a deciding factor in the group’s endorsements.
